Easy, intuitive. With lite version, can only create one animation and cannot export. This is one of my students' favorite apps for creating quick animations of scientific processes (cell cycle, polarization of charges during lightning, blood flow through the heart, etc) |
Puppet Pals HD
|
$2.99
|
Cartoon animation app with cut-out characters and voice recording of dialog.
|
Although the app is a bit limited in how you can view/manipulate characters, students really enjoyed creating quick animated dialog to teach concepts. We used this app at the beginning of units and asked students to research a topic, then create a quick video to teach what they had learned. Easy, intuitive, user-friendly.

Moviestorm
|
$9.99
|
Cartoon animation app for creating a 3D avatar that can speak a monologue.
|
Although this app is not as user-friendly, you have a vast selection of options regarding the view/perspective, the character you create and the movements of your character on the screen. Students created impressive professional presentations, but often had trouble exporting their video out of the app.

Pic Collage

Photo Collages. Vocab Graphic Organizers. |
Easy to add photos from library and manipulate to create fun photo collages. Students love creating collages about themselves and collages to define/describe topics. We use PicCollage for AVID one-pager activities, vocabulary organizers (eg, ) and for interactive posters. Considerably easier than web programs such as Glogster. |
DMD Panorama
|
$1.99 |
Photo-Stitching for
Panorama photos. |
Similar to Photosynth. Stitching isn't as smooth as in the new iPad/iPhone Camera App, but is functional. Students can use the stitch to create wider/tall photos while collecting data or recording observations. Nice for collecting data about student engagement at different moments during class.
