KINEMATICS
Video analysis of movies that you import from the internet or record using the iPad camera. |
This is one of my favorite apps--we use in in physics from nearly day 1. Students are able to create and compare/contrast videos and graphs of objects moving at constant/changing rates. I often pair this tool with a traditional lab--for example, my students can measure "g" using both a traditional Ticker Tape apparatus as well as the video analysis, then compare and discuss their results.

ENERGY
Simulation app that introduces types of energy and allows students to manipulate roller coaster elements, then measure/observe change in energy during motion. |
My students love this app! I use this as an introduction activity when we begin discussing energy, and give students about 10-15 minutes to play and explore. Although that is the only in-class assigned time they have with the app, I'll often find them playing on this app during extra time (or even during lunch!).
